Slowly But Surely

Written by Deborah on .

Hello folks,

This past week has been a struggle. I have come down with the worst sinus infection I believe I have ever had. My face has been swollen and and the right side has been twice as bad as the left. It has not wanted to drain at all. I have done everything....saline rinse, steam showers, humidifiers, Mucinex, warm compresses, Ibuprophen for inflammation, and antibiotics. Nothing seems to be helping much. If I don't have improvement by Wednesday, I will be heading back to see my internal doctor.

Since laying down makes me feel worse, I have been working on and off as much as I can. I am currently working on a blonde hair blue eyed baby. I hope to have her completed by the end of the week assuming this mess doesn't worsen. As usual, keep checking back and if you haven't joined my mailing list, do so on the left side of my home page. You will be first to know of new available babies.

Ok, back to rooting!

Back to Work!

Written by Deborah on .

Hello everyone,

Well the holidays are over and I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I also hope that the new year brings joy and prosperity to all of you. I have not been working the last few weeks as I have a son who lives in California here for Christmas. We only get to see him once or twice a year so the doll stuff is put to the side.

Today I started back working and I am currently working on the Holden sculpt by Helen Connors. This baby will be a baby boy. As soon as I have him completed I will send out a newsletter. If you are not on my mailing list and wish to be one of the first to be notified of a new baby coming available, you can join my mailing list on my home page on the left side.

Okay, back to rooting I go!

Thank you,

Deborah

Photo Issues With Baby Noel and A Quick Note!

Written by Deborah on .

Hello everyone,

I know its been a long while since I blogged. Between trying to get babies done and the holidays approaching, I have been a busy bee and time tends to get away from me. I wanted to take a moment to talk about my Baby Noel. When I was photographing her I was having some issues with my camera settings. For some reason I couldnt get the lighting right and as a result I settled for the photos I took of her out of frustration. The more I looked at her photos over the last month or so the more I realized they did not really capture her well. In fact they kind of had a yellow overcast and made her hair look a little strange to me. It has bothered me for awhile so last night I decided to do something about it and retake her photos. I have temporarily removed her from my site, but she will be back up sometime today.

Also I want to make a quick mention that I will be taking some time off from December 16 - December 31. This doesnt mean I wont be working on babies all together. What is means is my son from California will be here visiting for Christmas and I want to spend some time enjoying him while he is here. He and family time will be my priority. I will probably still work some early morning and some evenings, but other than that I plan to try and enjoy time with them for the holidays.

Once Christmas is all done and over, I will then be focusing on preparing for the International Doll and Teddy Bear Show in Asheville, NC in June. I will still be making babies for the site, but I will also be setting some aside for the show. I will not be revealing the babies for the show until opening day at the show. I want it to be a surprise for those that are planning to attend. I feel by having them on my site months ahead of time ruins the joy of coming to the show to see them in person only to see the same faces folks have been looking at for months. I will promise I will have some real cuties. The babies I have already planned to do for the show are amazing sculpts! As I stated before, I will continue to place babies on my site for adoption as well. The time in between babies will just be a bit longer.

Ok, I am off to finish going through Baby Noel's photos. Once I have that completed and her back up for adoption, I will continue to paint Mina Torquati's "Madison" sculpt."

Thank you,

Deborah

A Few Announcements!!!

Written by Deborah on .

Hello everyone,

I have a few announcements I would like to make.

#1 - Deborah's Darlings will be closed from Thursday, October 8 - Monday, October 12. Any available babies purchased during this time will ship on Tuesday, October 13. Any emails received or any messages on Facebook will be answered in the evenings.

#2 -

Reindeer2 I will be participating in a large local craft show on November 7.  It is called Reindeer Days. There is more information regarding this show here under Doll Shows. Babies have been selling crazy for me over the last few months so my stock is currently very low. I will be working feverishly to get a few done to display at this upcoming show. I may have to avoid placing them on my site until after the show just to make sure I have some available to display.

#3 - Many of you have already heard, but I wanted to mention that Petra Lechner, a well known pioneer sculptor, passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. Her work was amazing and she was an inspiration to many. I am currently working on her "Hope" kit. This kit is adorable and the details are amazing. I had originally planned on rooting this kit, but because her vinyl is so so soft and squishy, I have decided to paint the hair and do it a bit thicker than I normally do.  Rooting very soft vinly like that is very difficult and results in many broken needles and for me...a very sore shoulder. I hope to have her available sometime next week.

Everyone have a great day!

Deborah
